3 Year Old Kindy Program

The Woodlupine Family Centre established a 3yo Kindy Program in July 2000 offering one two hour session designed to give children who turned four in July onwards of that year an opportunity to participate in a Kindy style program in readiness for 4 Year Old Kindy the following year. 

We now offer eight sessions of two hours, allowing 3 year old children to come to Kindy for one morning and one afternoon session or to choose to come once for either a morning or an afternoon on a variety of days.

Philosophy

Our program for the 3 year old kindy is based on "Learning Through Play" with a strong emphasis on developing the child's social and emotional independence in a fun and stimulating environment.  Our main objective is to develop children's confidence in large group situations and prepare them for 4 year old kindy and the education system.

The sessions are programmed similarly to 4 year old kindy so the children get used to the routines and practices but scaled down to a 3 year old kindy level so we are not duplicating exactly what they are doing at 4 year olds.  We cover a range of group and individual activities such as music, movement, role play, craft, and indoor and outdoor free play, basically everything they have at 4 year olds they will get a taste of here with us at the 3 year old kindy.

There is a maximum of 20 children in each session with a trained coordinator and aide.  In terms of our child care license the children all need to have turned three before they start and should be toilet trained.
